In the municipality of Calvià, you will find not only the British areas of Magaluf and Palmanova or the beaches favored by Germans in Santa Ponça or Peguera. There are also popular beaches among the residents of Palma in Illetas and many small, romantic coves that can only be reached by boat. Many countries would wish to have just a fraction of the beaches that Calvià offers.
Cala Bella Dona
Cala Bella Dona is a small and peaceful natural spot in the south of Mallorca, characterized by its very light sand and crystal-clear waters. This undeveloped paradise offers a completely natural setting, with shade provided by the surrounding trees, but no services available. The beach is known as a naturist spot. It can be accessed by descending a staircase from the Sol de Mallorca residential area, which is reached via the C-719. The cove is located to the left of the residential area.
Cala Contesa
Cala Contesa is a small and charming cove located near Palma. It is surrounded by a pine forest and offers crystal-clear, turquoise waters. The beach has a kiosk and showers, and it is one of the three beach sections in Illetes. To get there, follow the C-719 and take the turnoff towards Es Fortí. From there, a small staircase will take you directly to the beach.
Cala del Mago
Cala del Mago is a small cove located in the Bay of the Three Fingers in the south of Mallorca, known for its fine golden sand. The cove is adorned with remnants of film sets, as the movie "The Magus" was filmed here in 1967. Before this event, the cove was called Cala de Sa Torre. It is known as the first official FKK beach (nudist beach) in the Calvià area. To reach Playa del Mago (Platja del Mago), take the C-719 towards Andratx, turning off after Magaluf towards Portals Vells. Free parking is available.
Cala Falcò
Cala Falcó, also known as Cala Cap Falcó, is a picturesque and small cove located in the south of Mallorca. This idyllic bay is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, giving it a natural and relaxed atmosphere. The cove is popular among a younger crowd, creating a lively vibe. To reach Cala Falcó, drive from Cala Vinyes along a coastal road until you pass Cap des Falcó. From there, a staircase leads down to the sandy beach.
Cala Figuera
Cala Figuera is a rocky cove with steep slopes and untouched nature, located in the south of Mallorca. This cove has no sand, making it a popular spot for sailors and fishermen. The most common activities in the area are diving, fishing, and sailing. To reach Cala Figuera Beach, take the C-719 towards Andratx, and shortly after Magaluf, follow the road down to the lighthouse.
Cala Fornells
Cala Fornells is an exclusive and popular destination in the south of Mallorca. Although this cove has limited sandy space, it offers large terraces for sunbathing on the rocks, from which you can enjoy panoramic sea views. The area is known for its sophisticated atmosphere and high-quality services. Cala Fornells is well signposted and is located a few kilometers from Peguera, following the C-719 towards Andratx.
Cala Portals Vells
The beach of Portals Vells (Platja de Portals Vells / Platjeta de Portals Vells) is known for its fine sand and relatively peaceful atmosphere, despite having a well-developed tourist infrastructure. In the northernmost cove, naturism (FKK) is allowed, making it a popular destination for nudists. Activities available at the beach include snorkeling, pedal boat rentals, and diving. Portals Vells beach is located in the south of Mallorca, near Cala Figuera, with its beaches situated just before the restricted access area.
Cala Vinyes
Cala Vinyes is a spacious beach in the south of Mallorca, surrounded by hotel resorts. It is lined with numerous palm trees and has fine sand. The beach is quite busy and offers typical services such as sunbed rentals. To get there, follow the coastal road from Magaluf.
Cala Xinxell
Platja de Cala Xinxell, also known as Es Fortí, is the smallest of the three beaches in Illetes. It stands out for its turquoise waters and fine sand. It is located near an old military installation, which contributes to its name. The beach is known for its peaceful atmosphere and its view of the bay. Access is easy from the C-719, by taking the turnoff towards Es Fortí. The Cala Comtesa beach services are nearby.
Caleta de Portals Nous
Caleta de Portals Nous, also known as Cala Bendinat, is a small and peaceful cove with turquoise waters and fine sand. The water is calm and shallow. A small beach bar offers refreshments, and the cove is surrounded by a natural setting that provides a sense of seclusion. It is located in Bendinat, near Plaça de Espanya, in the southwest of Mallorca.
Caló de Ses Llises
Caló de Ses Llises is a very small and picturesque cove located near Peguera. This cove, surrounded by pine trees, is an idyllic and secluded spot. Its waters are clear and have a beautiful emerald color, with a rocky seabed. The shallow entrance to the sea makes it easy for swimming. Despite its beauty, the cove is quite isolated. It is located along the road that connects Peguera with Cala Fornells.
Calo del Rei
El Caló del Rei (Platja del Rei) is a small cove located in the Bay of the Three Fingers in Calvià, in the south of Mallorca. It is a peaceful spot with fine white sand, surrounded by a pine forest. The water is very shallow, making it ideal for families, and there is a small beach bar. To reach Platja del Rei, take the C-719 towards Andratx, turning off after Magaluf towards Portals Vells, and then walk 200 meters.
Es Caló d’en Pellicer
Caló d'en Pellicer is a small cove located in the south of Mallorca, characterized by its fine golden sand. The beach is surrounded by pine and tamarisk trees, providing good shelter from the wind. It is a popular spot among locals. To reach Caló d'en Pellicer from Santa Ponça, free parking is available near the cove.
Magaluf
Magaluf Beach (Platja de Magaluf) is a wide sandy beach with fine sand and clear waters, surrounded by a lively promenade. It offers a complete tourist infrastructure and is very popular among British tourists. From the beach, there is a view of a small nearby island (Isla de sa Porrassa). To get there, take the PM-1 towards Andratx and use the exit for Magaluf.
Platja d’ Ses Illetes
Platja d'Illetes (also known as Ses Illetes) is an exclusive and beautiful stretch of beach in the town of Illetes, surrounded by luxurious villas. With fine sand and several terraces for sunbathing, it offers a wide range of facilities and services. To get there, follow the C-719 towards Ses Illetes and then take Avenida Illetes to the beach.
Platja d’es Carregador
Es Carregador Beach (Platja d'es Carregador) is located in the town of Palmanova, a popular area for British tourists in the south of Mallorca. This lively beach offers a wide range of leisure activities, featuring powdery white sand and a broad stretch of shoreline. Activities available include pedal boat rentals. Es Carregador Beach is accessible from Palma or Andratx via the PM-1 or C-719 roads, and it is well signposted in the town.
Platja d’es Toro
El Toro Beach, also known as Platja d'es Toro, is a cove located in the south of Mallorca, in the town of El Toro, right next to the luxurious Port Adriano. This cove is famous for its red rock cliffs, its fine light brown sand, and its gentle access to the sea, making it ideal for families. It is a popular spot among local residents. To reach El Toro Beach, follow Avinguda Rei Jaume I from Plaça Santa Ponça.
Platja de Costa d’en Blanes
Playa de Costa den Blanes (Platja de Costa d'en Blanes) is located next to Puerto Portals. Access is from the south of Mallorca, following the C-719 from Palma and following the signs towards the Sporting Tennis Club.
Platja de Portals Nous
Playa de Portals Nous (Platja de Portals Nous), also known as Platja de S'Oratori, is surrounded by residential areas and the marina of Puerto Portals. The beach has fine golden sand with a gentle slope into the sea, making it ideal for families. It is very busy, especially during the high season. Platja de Portals Nous is located in the southwest of Mallorca. It is easily accessible via the C-719 or PM-1, following the signs for "Puerto Portals" and the Bendinat residential area.
Platja de Son Maties
Playa Son Maties (Platja de Son Maties) is one of the three main beaches in Palmanova. It is a wide stretch of fine, light sand, very busy, with a predominantly English-speaking foreign crowd. The beach has a gentle slope into the sea and offers activities such as pedal boat rides and diving. Access is in the south of Mallorca, on the border between Palmanova and Magaluf.
Platjas de Peguera
The town of Peguera (Paguera) in the south of Mallorca has several main beaches: Platja Tora, Platja Palmira, Platja Gran, and Platja Romana. To reach Santa Ponsa Beach, follow Avinguda Rei Jaume I to Plaça Santa Ponça, where you will find free parking options.
Son Caliú
Son Caliú is a secluded and peaceful beach in the south of Mallorca. It features a mix of concrete areas and dark sand, and is surrounded by beautiful subtropical gardens and luxurious homes. Paddleboard rentals are also available. To get there, follow the C-719 and turn onto Calle Miguel Machado before reaching Palmanova.
