Directly on the elegant boulevard Passeig del Born is Casal Solleric, also known as Can Solleric. This impressive 18th-century palace was built for the noble Morell family, which is why it is also called Palacio Morell.
The baroque palace is the largest private palace in Palma. Personally, I was impressed by the large rooms with their high ceilings. Comfort is evident with fireplaces installed in almost every room.
Today, the palace houses the Cultural Foundation Casal Solleric. Regular exhibitions by young Spanish artists make Casal Solleric an exciting destination for art and culture lovers. But in my opinion, the impressive building alone is reason enough to visit.
The spacious inner courtyard, surrounded by delicate arcades, and the impressive staircase with its artistically forged railing are striking. In addition to the exhibition halls, there is an elegant café and a well-stocked art bookstore offering a wide variety.
And the highlight of it all: you are kindly greeted by the security guards, and entrance is free. It’s nice to see what Palma offers even for those on a tight budget. Regardless of the free entry, it’s worth visiting Casal Solleric if you’re already in Palma. Because in this palace, art resides.
