The traditional market of Sineu, located inland on the island, is held year-round every Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM.
A true must-see for any tourist in Mallorca! The colorful market stalls spread throughout the center of Sineu every Wednesday.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, tablecloths, linens, wood carvings, ceramics, baskets; local products mainly offered by farmers from the area.
From my personal experience, I can say that trying the different types of cheese and salami is a real pleasure. Many vendors are delighted to share stories about their manufacturing process. For me, it’s that personal touch that makes visiting Sineu so special.
Throughout the market, particularly in the small alley leading to the main market square, numerous local vendors offer handcrafted products. These can be hand-forged jewelry, painted pots, or homemade honey.
The Sineu market is my absolute favorite. In addition to good products, there is an authentic atmosphere.

However, not all the products at the market are locally made. There are also stalls where mass-produced items are sold, which are obviously not handmade. The simplest solution is to avoid these stalls.
In my last visit to Sineu, I was so moved that I almost shed a tear. An elderly lady, whom I often see in Mallorca with her Bunyols stall, wanted to sell me a bag of Bunyols for 5€.
“I told her, ‘I love Bunyols, but I can only have one.’ … and she asked me if I didn’t have a wife who could eat the other sweets. When I told her I didn’t, she shared with me that her husband had recently passed away after 60 years of marriage. It was a touching moment. And suddenly, she gave a small smile and offered me one of her Bunyols. A simple and honest moment. And just so you know: they are the best Bunyols I know. I recommend the apple ones.”
Pony rides for the little ones, live music, and acrobats contribute to the special atmosphere of this unique market. A little outside the center, there’s also a large animal market. For over 700 years, farm animals such as donkeys, sheep, chickens, pigs, and horses have been traded here starting at 8:00 in the morning at Plaza España in Sineu.
The nearby workshops are used by farmers on market days to repair their farming tools. It is a genuine traditional agricultural market that is not designed exclusively for mass tourism. Kids love this market almost as much as a petting zoo.
The friendly vendors hand out lettuce leaves to feed chickens, pigs, or ducks. Meanwhile, the adults busy themselves taking quirky photographs.
Tip: After visiting the market, recharge at one of the many “Cellers” (cellar restaurants) with a hearty plate of homemade food.
How to Get There and Where to Park
If you want to visit the Sineu market, it’s best to arrive by public transport. The train station in Sineu is only a few meters from the market and there are regular services from Palma.
If you decide to drive, it’s best to look for parking on the outskirts of the town. Most of the streets in the center are closed to traffic due to the market.
