There are many rocks in and around Mallorca, but Sa Foradada is truly special. The name translates to “the pierced one,” which perfectly describes this unique natural monument.
In the midst of the spectacular landscape of the Serra de Tramuntana, not far from Deià, lies this distinctive peninsula that extends about 400 meters into the sea, forming a small peninsula. The rock has a large hole in the center, about 18 meters in diameter, which gives it an unmistakable and fascinating appearance.
At sunset, the view is especially beautiful, but a hike or walk to the holey rock of Sa Foradada is also worth it in the morning or early afternoon.

How to Get to Sa Foradada: On Foot, by Car, or by Boat
There are several ways to reach Sa Foradada. Excursion boats arrive at the peninsula from the port of Sóller, making this the most comfortable and quickest option to visit this picturesque place.
Those who prefer the car should drive to the Son Marroig estate, where there is ample parking. It’s worth planning a bit more time for the excursion, as the former residence of Archduke Luis Salvador (known as Arxiduc by the Mallorcans) can also be visited.
Not only is it one of the most interesting sights in Mallorca in cultural terms, but also in terms of landscape.
From here, visitors can already enjoy a magnificent view of Sa Foradada and the tip of the peninsula. From the Son Marroig estate, a beautiful trail leads down to the bay with the rock. The Archduke himself, a great nature lover, was the one who created the path.
Hike to the Holed Rock of Sa Foradada
Hikers should courteously ask for permission at the estate before heading out, as Sa Foradada is privately owned. They will usually say, “Just climb over the fence.” Fortunately, no athletic skills are needed, as there is a small ladder on the right side of the fence.
The path to the sea is steep and mainly consists of stones and gravel, so it may be useful to wear hiking or athletic shoes. Since there is only one direction, getting lost is almost impossible. The trail passes through olive groves, rock formations, and sometimes charming donkeys, and after about 60 minutes (depending on the pace, it could be more), you arrive at Sa Foradada.
Although there are many beautiful places in Mallorca, this is undoubtedly one of the most magical destinations on the island. The way back is the same and can be exhausting, as the entire path to the Son Marroig parking lot is uphill.
It is essential to bring enough water! You have to overcome about 260 meters of altitude on each trip, and the total round-trip length is about 6.7 kilometers.
